General Description

6D/5N Tour

The former inhabitants of the Andes made one of the most impressive networks of footpaths or “chaquiñanes” in the world. These paths connected different regions and ecological stages. The Volcano Trek takes us on some of the paths used by the Incas and the older, local ethnic group, the Panzaleos, to reach the Amazon region. We cross the huge expanse of Cotopaxi National Park to reach the Protected Woodland of Hacienda El Tambo, a private conservation area since 1992, home to typical Ecuadorian wild animals, some of which are in danger of extinction.
