Full Itinerary

Day 1 Trails and roads at El Pedregal Valley and Santa Rita Ecological Reserve

We leave Quito early in the morning (7H30) and head towards Hacienda El Porvenir. At the hacienda we leave our luggage and get  bikes. The first 4 km we bike on gravel and dirt roads all the way to the north entrance to Cotopaxi National Park, and from there a beautiful down hill will take us to Santa Rita. Here we will enjoy and play on our mountain biking trails. Circuits designed by bikers that will take us to the heart of the Reserve. Campestre lunch at the Reserve and on the afternoon we can hike to the Condor Machai waterfall. Transfer on vehicle to Hacienda El Porvenir. Dinner and overnight stay at Hacienda El Porvenir. Riding Time: aprox 4H30

Day 2 East Rout and El Tambo trail. 

Hacienda Breakfast.Today’s ride will cover 42 km. with an average altitude of 3800 m / 12.464 ft. It is a worth effort. We will cross the eastern road of Cotopaxi National Park, visiting some sites on the way. Inca Ruins, fresh water springs and Andean lakes, until we reach El Tambo trail. A 18 km trail exclusive for bikers and with some of the best views of the area. Box Lunch. At our arrival to El Tambo Hacienda house, we will be welcomed with a drink next to a crackling fire place and a hot shower. A delicious dinner or BBQ will be served. Overnight at Hacienda El Tambo.

Day 3 The road of the lahars and return to civilization.

Hacienda Breakfast. We leave early El Tambo house and begun our return to civilization. The first 20 km are relatively flat with a slight uphill inclination and short climbing portions. Once we reach el encañonado, the road flows downhill and the bike can roll fluently without much physical effort. Box Lunch. We reach the higher road of El Canal, which is a flat road following a water canal. The views are superb. We pass by Limpiopungo Lake and bike to Hacienda El Porvenir. Catch some drinks at El Porvenir and return to Quito. Riding time: Aprox 7 hours.

Day 4 Cotopaxi Downhill * Extention day optional

Hacienda Breakfast. We leave early towards Cotopaxi National Park on our transport. This natural bike park offers unique and unspoiled routes for the most avid riders that want to discover why Wade Simmons “The Godfather” and Dan Barham from Bike Magazine say  ”this is more like skiing virgin powder than mountain biking”. Several descends are possible depending on the level of experitisse of the riders.
